Team Focused on integrating new technologies into Airbnb, and allowing the hosts to focus on hospitality

  • Launched a revamp of the Hosting Product, the Today Tab, to allow Hosts a dashboard to manage reservations and see what they need to do.

  • Head of team working on new technologies and integrations for Airbnb

REX, Redwood City, CA — VP of Research and Development

Startup focused on disrupting the Real Estate industry, providing a true end to end product that provides loans, insurance, brokerage, insurance, escrow all in one product.

  • Responsible for reviewing system architecture, built on top of AWS and Docker/K8.

  • Lead all of the product engineering team, designers, and QA, and mentoring Product Managers, team size ~30 engineers

  • Product Managed, built and launched the first mobile app for REX, growing at a rate of 400 new users a day

  • Mentored numerous ICs through the transition to a management track

  • Launched first smart home hardware which resulted in a new business unit

  • Designed, built, and launched new areas of infrastructure that would allow for productivity gains and ability to change processes in seconds that would previously take weeks.

  • Senior Engineering Manager, Ads Growth (2016-2017)

    • 3 Managers, ~30 reports in total (recursively)

    • Responsible for growing the number of advertisers by 20%, and hit those goals continuously. (5 M active advertisers)

    • Launching A/B experiments, and working on product changes that will grow advertisers

  • Senior Engineering Manager, Oculus Applications (2014-2016)

    • 3 Managers, ~40 reports in total (recursively)

    • Revamped hiring processes, started recruiting team resulting in a consistent bar of better hires

    • Shipped GearVR (Mobile) and Rift (PC) product + iterations, responsible for initial versions of all 1st party apps on PC + Mobile including: 2d & 3d App Store (PC + Mobile), Oculus Arcade, Oculus 360 Photos, Oculus Video, Retail Demo, Oculus Social

  • ChromeOS

    • Designed, integrated feedback, and implemented a new file browser and media player for ChromeOS

    • Go-to resource for everything involving media playback and file management in ChromeOS.

    • Designed system for an HTML/C++ based Options UI for Chrome that enabled a multi site team of 10 people to be able to contribute to the options, without running into conflicts.

  • Teacher for Life of a Server (new engineer on-boarding classes).

  • YouTube XL Lead

    • Launched the very first HTML5 video tag based site with a large catalog which was demoed at GoogleIO.

    • Launched 6 months after starting the project (design, implementation, user testing, deployment).

  • Google Media Server Lead (20% time)

    • Made the first demo, recruited the team, managed the team, and launched, all in 20% time.

  • Software Deployment Engineer

    • Launched an app that would generate configuration files automatically based on input from the user to get programs into Google production environment



Mediabolic, Mountain View, CA Software Engineer

JANUARY 2003 - DECEMBER 2006

Start-up in the set-top box space and video streaming acquired by Macrovision in 2006.

  • Responsible for Intel VIIV Windows Media Server. Shipped 1,000,000 units in 2006.

  • Led development of UPnP/DLNA products. Helped develop the spec with Intel.

  • Primary developer of Fujitsu application and liaison to Fujitsu QA in Japan. Software installed on approx. 1,000,000 computers.
